Is an association governed by the law of 1st July 1901
The purpose of the association is: to carry out research and publish studies relating to genealogy, heraldry and all sciences connected with history, to teach enthusiasts of all these sciences, and to promote the preservation of archive documents.
In 1975, the Centre de Recherche Généalogique Flandre-Artois was born, and with it the journal Flandres Artois Généalogie, the first issue of which appeared in 1976.
Today, other means of information are available to us, and our association intends to use them to the greatest satisfaction of its members, of which you may soon be one.
More than ever, our ambition is to give you a taste for genealogy, which you can only achieve by exploring our library and talking to our experienced members.
We remain mainly centred on French Flanders, where you will also be able to appreciate the cultural riches of your ancestors, but our borders remain vague and elastic, as they always have been.
- Several libraries are full of handwritten or typed reports on the region;
- genealogies submitted by members ;
- rare genealogical or historical works ;
- magazines from associations in the region, i.e. more than 6,000 references;
- Palaeography courses given by qualified members ;
- reading of texts in Old French, Latin and Flemish ;
