The Association Généalogique de l'Anjou, or A.Gén.A, is a not-for-profit association governed by the 1901 law, bringing together volunteer genealogists concerned with the preservation, promotion and transmission of our written heritage.
With the support of the Conseil Général de Maine et Loire and the Municipality of Angers, and in collaboration with the Departmental and Communal Archives, it is working collectively to compile records of parish registers from the Ancien Régime and Civil Status registers. Volunteers are working on systematically recording the records, while others are working on notarial records where the notebooks have disappeared or do not exist.
These statements are recorded and accessible free of charge by consulting the database.
The Association takes part in local and national conferences, exhibitions and forums.
It also seeks cooperation between genealogical circles in order to promote and facilitate the circulation of information.
