SUMMARY

Most people still too often associate DNA, the mysterious abbreviation for Deoxyribonucleic Acid, with research for medical, criminal or legal purposes. On the Internet and in most publications, the abbreviation DNA is used. But DNA has other assets too. Over the last few decades, it has entered the field of genetic research into the genesis of modern man (homo sapiens), and has become the most spectacular innovation in the field of genealogy. It has made it possible to trace family links between human beings and their journey from the cradle of homo sapiens in Africa some 200,000 years ago.
